ABOUT OUR TEAM

The Found by the Hound Volunteer Therapy team is the largest in South East Queensland and run by two highly experienced Dog Trainers. Comprehensive training and behavior assessments are undertaken to ensure that each dog on our team is appropriate for the facilities we visit and can display, calm, well-mannered behaviour.

Our Team consists of breeds both big and small who have all undergone rigorous training and testing to ensure they are the right dog for the job. In conjunction with great manners, our dogs and team members put smiles on faces by providing quality pats and chats. Many of our dogs can also perform exciting tricks to delight everyone.

THE BENEFITS OF THERAPY DOGS

Therapy Dogs have several benefits ranging from therapeutic and psychological, academic and cognitive.

Benefits include (but not limited to):

MOOD: Therapy Dogs can help increase levels of interest, happiness and lift the mood of those around them

MENTAL HEALTH: Therapy Dogs can enhance a state of calm, relieve stress and reduce levels of tension. Their presence can also increase mental stimulation

GENERAL HEALTH: Therapy Dogs can reduce blood pressure and encourage mobility by boosting activity levels

SOCIAL: Having a Therapy Dog in the presence of residents or students can often break the ice by providing a mutual topic for discussion, lifting the moods of many and bringing laughter to the room.

Please Note: Found by The Hound Volunteer Therapy Dog Visits are charged at $25 per visit and are organised to suit your schedule. Visits normally commence monthly (with the option of being increased to fortnightly or weekly depending upon our volunteers' availability.)
